A Minimum you can't talk yourself out of. Every day starts with a Minimum — what you'll do no matter what, even tired or busy. It's small on purpose: five minutes of the hard task, one phone call, one walk.
An accountability app helps you do what you said you'd do by making your commitments visible and checking on them. Yez3 combines three pieces: a three-level daily plan with a required Minimum, a streak that counts the days you closed it, and an AI coach that writes first when a key task is still open near the end of your day.
What is an accountability app?
An accountability app is a tool that holds you to your commitments: you say what you'll do, it tracks whether you did it, and someone — a person or a coach — asks about it. The asking is the part that works. Planning alone is easy to ignore; a question like "your Minimum is still open, what's in the way?" is not.
Research backs this up. In a meta-analysis of 138 studies with 19,951 participants, Harkin and colleagues (Psychological Bulletin, 2016) found that monitoring progress promotes goal attainment — and the effect was larger when progress was reported to others or physically recorded. In a smaller, non-peer-reviewed study at Dominican University of California, Gail Matthews found that people who sent weekly progress reports to a friend accomplished 76% of their goals, compared with 43% for those who only thought about them.
Which kind of accountability works for you?
| Accountability partner | Group or challenge | Human coach | Accountability app (Yez3) | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Who checks in | A friend or buddy | Other members | A paid coach | An AI coach, every day |
| How often | When you both remember | On a schedule | Weekly or monthly sessions | Daily, plus a nudge when something slips |
| Knows your plan | What you tell them | Your public posts | What you share in sessions | Your actual tasks, plans and streak |
| Available at 11 pm | Rarely | Sometimes | No | Yes |
How does Yez3 keep you accountable?
The coach writes first. Your coach messages you when a key task is still open near the end of your day, when unsorted tasks pile up, or when a task has been stuck for more than 5 days.
It asks "what's in the way?" Instead of a red badge, you get a question. The coach helps you shrink the task, move it or find the real blocker.
It holds you to your word. Say "later" about something important and the coach asks: when exactly, at what time, for how many minutes?
It remembers patterns. If the same blocker shows up three times, the coach notices and says so. You can see and edit everything it remembers.
Streaks without guilt. Close your Minimum and the day is won. Days off don't break the streak, and earned freezes protect it when life happens.
What does a day with an accountability app look like?
| Time | What happens |
|---|---|
| Morning | You set three plans. Minimum: "write 1 paragraph of the report". 100%: "finish section 2". Maximum: "send the draft". |
| Midday | You open the focus timer for 25 minutes on the report. |
| Evening | The paragraph is still open. Your coach writes: "One paragraph left on your Minimum — want to do it now or make it smaller?" |
| Night | You close it. The day is won, your streak grows. The coach asks one question about tomorrow. |
Who is an accountability app for?
- People who start strong and fade by Thursday. The Minimum keeps the chain going on bad days.
- People without an accountability buddy — or whose buddy stopped replying. The coach is always there.
- People with ADHD or task paralysis who need external accountability to start. Small first steps, brain dumps and check-ins help many people get moving. Yez3 is a planning tool, not a treatment.
- Anyone with a goal that needs daily action: losing weight, saving money, a side project, a language, a habit.
Do I still need an accountability partner?
Not necessarily. A partner is great when they're reliable, but most partnerships fade within weeks: schedules clash and nobody wants to nag a friend. An app doesn't get tired of asking. If you work best with a real person next to you, look at body doublingor a focusmate alternative — and use Yez3 for the daily plan.
Accountability app FAQ
Is there an accountability app that checks in on you?
Yes. Yez3's AI coach messages you first in three cases: a key task is still open near the end of your day, unsorted tasks are piling up, or a task has been stuck for more than 5 days. You choose the hours when it may write and your days off, so check-ins come when they're useful, not at midnight.
Is Yez3 a free accountability app?
Yez3 is a subscription with a free trial for new subscribers. The price depends on your country and is shown in the App Store or Google Play before you pay. You can start the mobile app as a guest, without signing up, and add your email later to keep your progress.
Can I use Yez3 with an accountability partner or friends?
Yez3 is built for one person and their coach — there are no shared boards. Many people combine it with a partner: Yez3 for the daily plan and check-ins, a weekly call with a friend for the bigger picture. If you like, send your partner a screenshot of your day.
Accountability journal vs app: which is better?
A journal is great for reflection, but it can't notice when you skip a day. An app can track your streak, remind you and ask what got in the way. If you like writing, use both: Yez3 for the daily plan and check-ins, a journal for the bigger thoughts.
Does an accountability app help with ADHD?
Many people with ADHD find external accountability helpful: someone or something that notices and asks. Yez3 adds small first steps, a brain dump for scattered thoughts, a focus timer and check-ins. It's a planning and coaching tool, not a treatment, and works alongside whatever support you already have.
What if I miss a day?
Nothing dramatic happens. The day counts as a miss, and your coach helps you figure out what got in the way and make tomorrow's Minimum easier. Earned streak freezes protect your streak automatically, and days you mark as days off never break it.
Is the coach a real person?
No. The coach is artificial intelligence. It can make mistakes and isn't a therapist, doctor or financial adviser — but it's available any time of day, knows your plan and remembers what you've told it.
